The $136million leaky roof

Art experts believe that the discovery of a 400 year old 17th Century painting in the Attic of a house in France, could be the greatest art find in the last 20 years.

It is believed that the 400 year old painting is a work by Italian master Caravaggio (Michelangelo merisi da Caravaggio) and though to be worth in the vicinity of US$136 million.

The painting was discovered by the owners of the house in 2014 in a sealed off section of the attic, when they were investigating a leaking roof.

Art experts have spent the past two years studying the painting, which has been named “Judith beheading Holofernes”, as it depicts biblical named Judith decapitating Holofernes, an Assyrian general.
